Research has proved that the effect of arts such as music, theatre, dance, painting could have multiple positive effects to people that are in difficult healthcare situations. This category includes elderly people, people with mental health problems, people with cancer, people with dementia etc. Arts have individual and social benefits. Through art, people that are in difficult healthcare situations can develop relations with each other, can exercise their mental abilities, can reduce their stress and increase positive feelings. The main aim of the project is to train professional artists in methods and techniques to adapt theater, performance, improvisation, music and dance in difficult healthcare areas. It is addressed to professional artists from the fields of theatre or music, or amateurs with interest in working with vulnerable groups of people. It is about art implementation in care homes, hospitals, institutions, clinics etc. It is also about the interaction between the artists and the participants.
The project collected a various of methods that apply in different environments and is going to organize training sessions for 300 artists (200 from the partner countries and 100 from the rest of Europe) in order to be able to work in difficult health situations. 500 people in such conditions are going to benefit from the practical implementation of these methods in shelters and other similar centres.
The project has developed a handbook addressing artists with clear guidelines on how to use theatre techniques in a physical way and online in order to work with people in difficult health situation
The impact of the project is going to be demonstrated by an Impact Assessment Report and case studies of specific people that have benefited from the project.
